Exploring My Terrific Pottermore Account – Hufflepuff Is The Best

If you’re a Potterhead, like me, you’ll know all about the Hogwarts houses and probably wonder which house you’d be sorted into. And it’s all thanks to the Pottermore/Wizarding World website.

On the 14th of April, 2012, the official Pottermore site was publicly launched. This site allowed fans to sign in and complete a quiz which would determine their Hogwarts house. In 2019, the Pottermore site was changed to the Wizarding World site, and all information was transferred over as the site changed slightly and expanded. The same year, along with the site change, a Wizarding World app was announced where fans could access all the joys of the site on their mobile devices – including games and puzzles.

Today, I thought I’d explore my Wizarding World account with you.

So, I joined the site back on the 18th of May 2019. I had joined while it was Pottermore, but I wanted to either make a new account with a new email address or try the sorting ceremony again. I got the same house the first time I joined, and this time too.

Hogwarts House

My Hogwarts House is Hufflepuff. One of the two that get left behind and forgotten sometimes. (Or most times.) However, that has benefits as if merch is made for all houses, there is ALWAYS something left in stock with my house.

DEDICATION, PATIENCE, LOYALTY

FUN FACT: Hufflepuff has the lowest amount of Dark Witches and Wizards compared to other houses.

I was shocked when I got Hufflepuff. I thought I would get Slytherin. Mainly because I didn’t feel like I fitted with the “smart” or “brave” connotations that Ravenclaw and Gryffindor have, but might have had the darker mind for Slytherin. However, since getting Hufflepuff, I feel like it fits. Ultimately, I enjoy being alone in my own wee world. Granted, I can’t keep plants alive to save myself, but I enjoy wildlife and other animals.

Wand

My wand is an English oak wood with a dragon core 12 ½” and quite bendy flexibility. I love the dragon core because, you know, dragons.

So, what’s really cool about the Wizarding World website is similar to your Hogwarts House. You can look into what your wand means. And you can see what the wood, core, length and flexibility mean. Or what Ollivandar has to say about those aspects of a wand.

From reading mine, the wood, core and flexibility all lean towards my wand being loyal to its current owner, but if stolen, its loyalty will shift to the new owner. The dragon core means the wand favours the Dark Arts more but is also prone to accidents.

Patronus

My patronus is a White Stallion. I’ve also loved horses and horse-like creatures, so I’m happy with the White Stallion.

Unfortunately, and rather disappointingly, the Wizarding World site doesn’t have anything on what the White Stallion is meant to represent. I thought it would have since you can’t retake the test unless you make a new account, and both the house and wand tell you about them.

Fortunately, however, few results from searching online give similar responses on what the White Stallion might mean. Funnily enough, it does match me. My personality matches my MBTI and the Taurus personality type of stubbornness. Also, in most of these things, I get Ox, Cow, Bull or anything else that is stubborn. And the White Stallion represents stubbornness. It’s also said to represent brave and daring, but I’m not sure I’m either of them. However, stubbornness is definitely a match.

Do I have the app? Is it worth it?

I do! I have the app on my phone!

Honestly, I don’t use it a lot, maybe every so often. However, I do enjoy having it. It’s fun to keep up to date on the events and stuff that are happening. I also enjoy the word search puzzles that are on it. They have crossword puzzles too, but I’ve never enjoyed them. Maybe I’ll get into them one day.
However, Wizarding World has a lot of Harry Potter games available to download. The one I play the most is Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells. It’s basically CandyCrush but Harry Potter-style. I enjoy it, and there is always an event or ten to participate in.
